A dynamic, successful company

Fiat Commercial Vehicles, founded in the mid-1970s, is now the company Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles S.pA., fully controlled by Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A..

The very first Fiat commercial vehicle was launched in 1903, and since then the commercial vehicle business has become an increasingly important aspect of the activities of, firstly, the Fiat Group and then Fiat Auto.

With its wide, articulated range that can meet the most varied transport needs, in addition to over 100 years of experience, Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles S.p.A. has established itself as the leader in its sector.

The LCV brand is the undisputed leader in Italy, where its market share in 2006 exceeded 47%, and it is also in a prominent position throughout the rest of Europe, with a market share of 11% in 2006.

The outstanding performance of its top models have contributed to the company's constant growth, which has seen the brand's sales increase from 263,000 units in 2000, to 310,000 units in 2004, 339,000 units in 2005, and 369,000 units in 2006. An increase of over 100,000 units since 2000, and a level of success that speaks for itself.

One of the driving forces behind this achievement has been the Fiat Ducato, the top-of-the-range model that has always topped the European sales charts - since 2004 with over 110,000 sales (113,000 in 2006) - and is the top-seller in Italy. And that's not all...

In the sector of conversion vehicles for leisure time, in the last few years the Fiat Ducato has become the European leader: two camper caravans out of every three are now built on a Ducato base, a percentage that even exceeded 72% in Germany in 2004. There is not a single major body builder in Europe who does not have a Ducato-based vehicle in their range.

Currently, Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles has over 150 employees in Europe, of whichmore than 60 are in Italy; the company also has 8 plants around the world, including the Sevelplant in Val di Sangro, where the Ducato is produced. It is the largest light commercial vehicle plant in Europe: it occupies an area of over 1,200,000 m², 344,000 m² of which are covered, and in December 2005 production reached the milestone of 3 million units.

Flush with this success, Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles today continues to work to consolidate its leadership, and has set itself the target of 500,000 vehicles sold around the world by 2010.

Helping to reach this target will be the further development of the company's already extensive sales network: there are at present 1400 Dealers in Europe, including 300 in Italy, and over 700 specialist Commercial Vehicle Dealers.
